Project One

Posted By Ashley Wolf, Sunday, November 19, 2017
Updated: Sunday, November 19, 2017

Hello, my name is Ashley and I currently live in Pensacola, FL. I originally went to school in Wisconsin for broadcast journalist, but now I have been a nanny for the past two years deciding what I really want to do with the rest of my life. I have found a true calling in event planning and I want to take my skills further by planning gorgeous weddings and opening my own planning business. I more short term goal is to have my project featured on the student work page!

I was very overwhelmed when I first read about this project and honestly put it on the back burner for a few weeks and kept on reading more chapters. I took a look at some student samples and got an idea of how to proceed, and let my creativity run wild. Creating a website from scratch was the most challenging task I've taken on in awhile. I was truly proud of myself after completing this project!

I have made my dream wedding throughout this project and after going through the A8 presentation, I have added even more detail into it than I thought possible. I can't wait to live this wedding in reality!

CWEP Project 1

Posted By Jennifer Haynie, Thursday, November 16, 2017

The theme of Project 1 is a basic country wedding. I put in the boots for the bride and the dresses for the bridesmaids. What the cake and the rehearsal area for the reception time. The fun sign to put at the front of the barn for people to read before entering.

Making this was a lot of fun because I am currently trying to decide what theme I want for my wedding, so this gave me a lot of ideas.

CWEP Project 3 Grand Opening

Posted By Shirley Trainor, Thursday, November 16, 2017

Project 3, Grand Opening was the easiest. I learned so much doing this project as well as the other. I am so happy that I learned how to do a slide show presentation, how to do a Press Release, and how easy it was to apply the A6?A8 formula into this project. Using Google slides was far better to use than Emaze. I had more options with Google Slides to getting this project done. I am looking forward to learning how to utilize Wix,since I will no longer be under any time constraints to learn  how to use these tools and trying to get the projects completed. It was with great ease that I was able to apply the A6/A8 formula to this project. I now know how to do a Grand Opening.

Cheers!

18.6 LWPI Blog Contribution

Posted By Patti Studley, Thursday, November 16, 2017
Updated: Thursday, November 16, 2017

My name is Patti Studley, I live in Seattle Washington, and currently work in sales at a stone distributor. I hope to use my design background and now a certified event planner, to work in the event planning field for destination weddings.

I chose to go through the LWPI course to better my education in event planning. I recently got married in Belize, and planned my wedding from my home in Seattle. I came to find out that it was difficult to do. We had our own venue at a friends house, but unless you got married at a resort with a wedding planner, vendors were hard to find. This is one reason for wanting to go through this course.

For my Grand Opening I chose a wine tasting room in Belize. It was really fun to use my experience from my visit to Belize to incorporate in my project. I learned a lot from working on this, not only from the course, but also about the country and it's people, it was good research.

I really enjoyed what I learned, and a few of the projects were a little challenging, but a great opportunity for me. Dawnet Davis was a pleasure to have teach this class. She is very knowledgeable, nice and made the class fun!

Thank you to all who put this together, and I would recommend this course to anyone.

Patti

18.6 LWPI Blog Contribution

Posted By Shirley Trainor, Thursday, November 16, 2017

Hello,

My name is Shirley Trainor. I am taking the CWEP Course at San Francisco City College. I live in the City of Brentwood, California and I commute by Bart to get to this class. Riding Bart allows me time to read the Wedding and Event Planning book by Cho Phillips. I took the class to become a Certified Wedding Planner because I wanted to know more about Event Planning. After beginning the course I discovered it was more geared towards Weddings but the same formula can be applied towards Event Planning. I am very happy that I made the decision to do so. I have learned so much about Weddings and which I can also apply towards Event Planning. This class has also helped me  complete specific areas in my business plan and helped me to offer more products and services. In this class I have also met a talented group of Women who come from Countries all over the world to learn to earn their Certifications and that I would like to keep in touch with. This has been a great experience.

I Am Matrimony Presents: The Launch Party

Posted By Whitney Johnson, Wednesday, November 15, 2017

My name is Whitney M. Johnson, I am 29 years old from Palmyra-- the heart of Central Virginia. I currently am a Scheduling Coordinator for Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital. I am a graduate of Norfolk State University where i obtained my B.S. in Exercise Science and Kinesiotherapy and by night I am a firefighter with Fork Union Fire Department in Fluvanna County.

I have truly enjoyed every moment of this class and have gained a plethora of knowledge these past couple of months. It was well worth the hour and half commute every Thursday! Before i started this post I took a moment to reflect and i had to chuckle a little because one of the first things from the book that stuck with me was how the class text for some can become like a bible and as i glanced over-- well, highlighted, pages flipped down, a little ratty lol. THIS IS ONLY THE BEGINNING..

Assignment 18.6 Blog Submission

Posted By Nina Valles, Wednesday, November 15, 2017

My name is Nina and I am currently working as a Catering Sales Associate for a non-profit organization in Seattle.  I assist with all of our wedding sales and work with our clients from start to finish.  We have 2 beautiful event spaces that we rent out and we are the exclusive caterer for both venues.  In my current role I help give tours of our space, secure booking documents with our clients, manage their timelines, food/beverage selections and all logistics that pertain to the day of.  I am not a wedding planner, however I easily fill that role if our clients are not working with a wedding planner.

I signed up for this course because my employer wanted me to get my CWEP.  It has been fun to be back in school but honestly a lot of the course materials that were covered were things that I already knew.  I did learn some new materials from this course and feel that being certified now will help set me apart from others in the industry.  Thank you!

Assignment 18.6

Posted By Minee Verma, Wednesday, November 15, 2017

My name is Minee Verma. When I joined LWPI I didn’t know what to expect. I’ve been doing events for a few years and wanted to get certified. When I started my class, I realized there is so much more to learn. I felt the course was overwhelming at times as I was working full time. But I like challenges. The instructions were simple to follow and our instructor ‘Dawnet Davis ‘did a phenomenal job to keep us on the task. She communicates very well and responds to the email immediately.

All three projects were very elaborate and great learning experience. I put in a lot of research to do my best on those. I’m not sure where I’m heading from here, but one thing I know I’m a very passionate and dedicated event professional who like to help people plan their dream events in seamless management, timeless style and unforgettable experience. M- Planners mission is accomplished when our clients go on the memory lane to look back and it puts a smile on their face.

CWEP Project 3

Posted By ASHLEY FADRILAN, Tuesday, November 14, 2017

PRESS RELEASE:

The grand opening of Events by Ash will take place in South San Francisco this upcoming August 2018. The “Be You!” grand opening will be held at Orange Memorial Park at 2:00pm and open to the public. The theme of “Be You!” will focus on the importance of individuality through events and showcase the planning coordination and signage services that Events by Ash offers. The goal of the event is to build relationships with the Bay Area community, empower individuality and spread knowledge of Ashley’s experiences and passion in the events industry.

###

My experience in this class was a memorable one. Meeting in class twice a week with Sarah and my colleagues really helped to pull together the course and all of the little details that go into wedding and event planning. I enjoyed the 3 projects we were assigned because it allowed us to put ourselves in real life event planning situations and focus on budgeting-- something I was very interested in learning.

This project reflects the grand opening of Events by Ash a wedding and event planning coordination business. Events by Ash markets planning services in addition to signage for local weddings and events. The grand opening "Be You!" event focuses on individuality and the importance of being true to self when planning personable events.
